The northern shore of Lake Amaya is in the southern part of Vvardenfell, just northeast from the starting city of Seyda Neen, southeast from an another settlement (Balmora), west from the Suran Wayshrine.
Just like most of the shards that are set outside, if you are aware of the map marker for this one, you'll find it easy. The lake we are looking for is the largest one in Vvardenfell. It is also south from the Morrowind expansion 'landing point' of Seyda Neen.

Once you find yourself at Lake Amaya, head to its northeastern part. There is a small road following its shoreline. The stump with the shard is just next to another tree, one with a weird looking trunk. Some of its parts almost branch out at a right angle. Skyshards are objects found all around Tamriel in ESO. Every three skyshards a player collects will yield one skill point. There's a total of 381 skyshards players can get with the Morrowind expansion, which means you will be able to grab 127 skill points if you get every skyshard in game. This is more than a third of all skill points in game, so it's needless to say skyshards are a great source of skill points.
The locations of skyshards are static and the exact same for every player. Once you use the skyshard, it will disappear on your screen.
Tamriel is worth exploring inside out, because Skyshards are often found in locations you'd least expect: on balconies, behind corners and inside deepest dungeons. There are achievements to collect skyshards, and the achievements include hints of each skyshard's location.
